Re: Euro 2012
reasons Ukraine didn't get through:
-Ukrainian goal keeper not being able to hold on to the ball
-shevchenko not being able to start
-no other strikers to finish all the amazing plays
-getting robbed a goal (thanks FIFA)

gotta admit. I'm liking Portugal's linking play. Some of it has been so fluid and nice to watch. Czech are holding firm though. Defending in packs almost lol.

that shot on post yea, they're trying to break in that tight wall and being somewhat patient but at this rate we'll have the entire team with yellows
which surprises me Pepe doesn't yet have one

Re: Euro 2012
Hats off to the Portugreasers...they played well. The game started off pretty close for about 20 mins or so, but Portugal denied them any possession and passed well. The second half they just Spained them in the butthole and passed like crazy and kept possession. I thought Ronaldo looked great, despite the two posts. Both efforts were nice, and his goal was fantastic...he just came out of nowhere. Despite putting three guys on him the whole game he managed to just torment those defenders the whole 90. Gebre Selassie got turned inside-out so many times, lol. You could tell Ronaldo just wanted this one badly, and I actually felt happy for him for about three seconds until the camera zoomed on him...then he went back to being the cunt I want to see get the fuck kicked out of.
Dan, did you see Figo when they scored? Lol...he looked like Rocky Balboa, lawl.

That's Figo chillin' with Eusebio, Eusebio is usually at every match of the Portuguese team for some reason. Must really, really miss it.

I hope Greece wins. I want to go party with the Greeks like I did in 2004. We such down a decent sized chunk of the city with all the celebration. Was almost as bad as 2006. Now that was a party.

Yeah, definitely...having Italy and Portugal in the semis is just too much grease and hair oil in one competition. This isn't fucking pro wrestling...

Re: Euro 2012
Can you imagine how garlicky the stadium would be if there ends up being an Italy/France game? The tailgate party would be fucking awesome though.
Actually, now that I think about it, with the awesome sausage traditions of Portugal, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy ANY of the tailgate parties would be delicious. Sorry Law, bangers just don't grill very well...

Re: Euro 2012
If the Euros were decided by sausages, Germany would win hands down...BUT...if it was decided by cheeses, who do you think would win?
The quarterfinal contenders would have to be England, Holland, Denmark, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Greece.
The Greeks are a little one-dimensional, with their feta. Spain doesn't display enough creativity or mastery here. Germany has some nice ideas, but they tend to be a little hard and dry. Italy has a fine tradition and demonstrated mastery, but are better to cook with than on their own. France has some sublime talents here, and are very diverse in their attack. Denmark is pretty straightforward but works well in any system. Holland again bring so much creativity and variety, and England are demonstrated masters when it comes to cheddars and other firmer orange cheeses, something only the Dutch come close to working well with.
For me it is a tough call. I love a good Danish blue or Gorgonzola, stinky cave aged cheeses like that. But I also love brie and goat cheeses and other soft, creamy young cheeses, especially herbed or peppered . On the other hand, dill havarti, smoky Gouda, and other semi-firm Dutch and Danish cheeses work so well on sandwiches. And then there are the fine English cheeses...the cheddars of Stilton and Cotswold and the like...so good anywhere between mild to sharp, great on bread, in sandwiches, melted, sliced, whatever...all good.
I honestly couldn't decide. Dan, you're the expert here...what do you think?

Don't underestimate the Greek goat cheese, they have some of the best goat cheeses I've tasted. But it's a tough call. You can't really say the Dutch Gouda is better then the Italian Pecorino or a French Munster, they're too different.
Holland has some great mild semi hard cheeses great for steak sammiches (I do it all the time ) but the Spanish Manchego is a very close contender.
I think France wins the soft cheese contest, aside from Brie which is one of everyone's favorite, they produce some other more pungent yet very soft completely melting cheeses (camembert). Fontina from Italy being a very close contender as well.
Cooking cheeses is also between Italy and France and we all know the Italian cheeses very well (mozzarella, gorgonzola and parmagiano) but I think it's because the Italian cuisine is so popular in the States.
Which leaves the blue cheeses, I don't know much about them tbh so no comment.
Other cheeses to consider are Italian red wine brine washed cheese, goat piri piri (if you like spice this is a must), Portuguese Serra (very similar to Dutch ball cheeses and Alentejo (goat and cow blend).
