I do like a good defensive pairing if i'm honest. It helps build such a solid backbone for the rest of the team. Look at Rio & Vidic a couple seasons ago. Unbeatable pairing. Now, not so much lol. Problem is Rio, Vidic still has that 1000 yard stare but Rio's just lost his pace from being injured every two weeks lol. You can see how much Utd are missing them though.

Kompany's looking like the next big thing though. Guy's such a boss at the back. If city ever lost him to a long term injury it would season over i reckon.

I KNOW...*sigh*...Stoke is always a pain in our asses for some reason, and they've looked like shit all season at Anfield. So frustrating. Gerrard back is a huge boost 'but it'll take some time for him to gel with the new guys. I see him playing less with Adam, and more of an interchangeable role for them both. There's an embarrassment of riches in midfield, but nobody is really firing on all cylinders right now. As for up front...hmmm...well, I think Gerrard is capable of supplying Carroll the service he needs, as well as taking some defensive pressure and focus from the big man, which just may be what he needs to get going. Failing that...yeah, Demba Ba is flavour of the month, but would be a good fit and a Ba and Carroll up front, a midfield diamond of Suarez right behind, Downing, Gerrard, Adam holding, and back line of Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, and Johnson would be a lot of fun to see. I doubt Kenny would be that defensively irresponsible, but still... Other names to bring in that have been thrown around are all building for the future, but they need strikers NOW. Bellamy can only do so much, lols. If they spend the money though, I'd like to see Cavani from Napoli,

Carrol was so good @ Newcastle because he had balls in the box everytime. It's his biggest strength.
Problem with him now is that 'pool are more of a 'keep it on the ground and build up' kinda team. I mean, nothing wrong with that at all. I just think he needs to adapt a lot quicker than what he has. I'd hate to see him just being another Crouch

your biggest problem is that you have a team of kind of good but most of the time average players.
Benitez bought anyone who showed any kind of promise and just didn't use them right or, they turned out to be prem flops. Now Dalgleish has to work with the left overs and re-build.

I'll give Benitez his dues. He DID make a good team. That champs league final Vs Milan was an excellent game from a neutral's perspective. But he just lost the plot in the end.

i was a little gutted we didn't make it to the final. But i watched the whole game and we were on our arse the entire 90 minutes. Even before we lost Mccarthy. I can't see Liverpool loosing 2bh. Cardiff are a strong side but after seeing how many chances they didn't put away against us i can't see them being much of a threat against Skrtl and Agger.

Yeah, pretty much...Dempsey's always been not bad, but he's got some bite to his game now and i think its really helped him. He's a leader at heart and Fulham have been a perfect fit and allowed him to blossom. Howard's always been my favorite US keeper (besides Joe Cannon, but thaw because he played for San Jose and grew up there like me...plus we're friends on Facebook, lol) Kasey Keller was cool too. And as for Donovan I really think he should stay at Everton...screw the MLS. He's done well in the Prem his entire career and needs that level of competition to stay in form. Over here he's a big fish in a small pond. MLS is where you either begin or end your career.

Looks like Moyes is doing well enough that they are going to land Jelevac though...good deal for them if they do. The Toffees are never going to be the big spenders but they sell smartly (Pienaar and Lescott, lol) and reinvest wisely and manage to make the most of what they got. I just wish they'd sell us Leighton Baines dammit

I think he could do well in England personally. Looks solid up front and i think not bad on the wings either. I remember Moyes playing him on the right a few times during his first loan spell. More of a winger/striker. Cutting into the box and that but it still worked well.
